The Goanna Hill Gallery business name was registered in 1993 and the gallery opened at the end of that year.
The theme of the work is varied and experimental, working from a traditional type of application to a contemporary form of representation.
The subject matter is of a general interest, including river scenes/landscape, local fauna and flora, portraits, old machinery and buildings connected to local community and environment.
In the past I entered competitions that resulted in recognition by prizes and awards in the watercolour section with machinery and riverscences paintings this
from local shows, Rotary exhibitions, The Hilda Elliot Art prize at a Mildura, a first in a compition at Carnes in QLD to name a few.
The gallery is built of local random lime based type stone, is 12m x10m with 3 meter high ceilings, face red brickwork internal.
Red brick coins and iron roof in colonial style.
Our dwelling is attached to the rear of the gallery, we live on site.
The gallery specifically houses my own work and studio environment from which I work as the resident artist.
An almost self taught Artist, prompted and encouraged by a strong emotional connection to creativity and a passion to paint from and through local environment.
Influenced by local artist Garry Duncan in 82
Also inspired by
Adelaides Rod Taylor who ran the Central School of Art in 1984 of fine line drawing from life and other theories of what art is suppost to be about.
Trying to master my emotional expressions, the brush verses the pen and the spoken word of song and poetry. Hence a picture says a thousand words comes to mind.
Each painting developed by a story that justifies its being.
